Abstract:

The purpose of this study was the effectiveness of Compassion-Focused therapy on posttraumatic growth and Body Image Fear in Females with Breast Cancer. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with the control group. The statistical population of the study included all females with breast cancer who were referred to Arad hospital and had a medical record in the spring of 2020.  Among them, 30 females were selected by purposive sampling and randomly replaced in a control group (waiting for treatment) and an experimental group (15 people in each group). The subjects of the experimental group received Compassion-Focused therapy (during 8 sessions) and the control group (waiting for treatment) did not receive the intervention. For data collection, the posttraumatic growth PTGI (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996) and Body Image Fear BICI (Body Image Fear, 2005) were used. Data were analyzed by analysis of covariance in SPSS21. The results showed that Compassion-Focused therapy significantly increased posttraumatic growth and decreased Body Image Fear(p<0.05). According to the results of the present study, Compassion-Focused therapy can be used to increase posttraumatic growth and decreased Body Image Fear in females with Breast Cancer.
